Formed in 2003 in response to a growing demand for locum hospital doctors, Athona realised a requirement in the market for an agency to focus on specific specialties within the healthcare industry. In August 2003, a national shortage of anaesthetists initiated our first recruitment drive.
After successfully building a strong bank of high-calibre anaesthetists, our reputation for placing suitable candidates into hard to fill posts grew and with that so did our dedication to specialist recruitment.
Using the same methodology, we used our experience and knowledge of the market to open dedicated recruitment desks for radiology, general medicine, pathology, paediatrics & neonates, surgical, psychiatry, dental, emergency medicine and obstetrics & gynaecology.
Today, Athona has thousands of active, registered doctors spanning a variety of specialties and sub-specialties.
